The incident occurred on Tuesday at 4 PM when Hamim attended a cricket match between the 2019 and 2022 batches. A senior ordered him to leave, and while he complied, it was not the first time he had faced harassment. Last year, he was confronted for not greeting a senior during dinner. As captain of the 2023 batch cricket team, Hamim reportedly found himself in conflict with seniors, leading to further intimidation.

The situation escalated as seniors allegedly forced him to perform demeaning acts, including a specific salute, singing, and dancing. When he resisted and attempted to record the incident, they turned violent. Later that evening, a group stormed his hostel room, physically assaulted him, recorded a forced apology, and issued threats, barring him from playing cricket.
The JKSA condemned the attack, calling for legal action and stricter anti-ragging measures to protect students, particularly non-locals. Meanwhile, college sources downplayed the incident, suggesting it was exaggerated and linked to disciplinary concerns.
