The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to upgrade its fleet with the introduction of a new model of 30-seater cum sleeper buses, branded as ‘Pallakki’ buses. Tenders have already been invited for the acquisition of 30 of these buses, marking a significant step forward in KSRTC’s service offerings.

These innovative buses are designed to cater to both seated and sleeper passengers, with a unique configuration that includes standard seating arrangements on the lower deck and sleeper berths on the upper deck. The concept of seater cum sleeper buses is not new to the state, with many private operators already running similar models. However, KSRTC’s ‘Pallakki’ buses, introduced in October 2023, is expected to meet the growing demand for this type of service.

The new non-AC seater cum sleeper buses are part of KSRTC’s strategy to enhance passenger comfort and cater to diverse travel needs. The procurement process, guided by tender regulations, is anticipated to be completed within the next six months. This move underscores KSRTC’s commitment to upgrading its fleet and providing superior travel experiences for its passengers.
