The winter sessions of the Legislative Council and Assembly commenced at Suvarna Soudha, with proceedings scheduled to run until December 19.

The opening session of the Legislative Council, led by Speaker Basavaraj Horatti, began with the reading of the Constitution's preamble. This was followed by a somber moment of condolences for eminent personalities who recently passed away. Among those mourned were former Council members K.H. Srinivas, Shublata Vasant Asnotikar, Kalebudda Ismail Saab, Narendra Kheni, K. Niranjan Naidu, and Savitrimma M. Gundi, as well as former Deputy Speaker Manohar Tahsildar. Tributes were also paid to industrialist Ratan Naval Tata, educationist Dr. Syed Shah Khusro Hussaini, and litterateur Rajashekar Neermanvi.

The Assembly session opened with the patriotic rendition of Vande Mataram. Speaker UT Khader led members in reading the Constitution's preamble before administering the oath to newly elected MLAs Annapurna Tukaram, C.P. Yogeshwar, and Yasir Pathan.

Speaker Khader emphasized the importance of full attendance throughout the session, urging members to participate actively in legislative discussions. He also joined in offering condolences to the departed dignitaries, reiterating the House’s collective respect for their contributions.

The sessions are expected to address key legislative matters, with a focus on governance and policy deliberations.
