The Karnataka Lokayukta on Wednesday launched simultaneous raids at the residences of three senior government officials in Bengaluru, intensifying its ongoing crackdown on corruption and illegal land dealings.

The officials under investigation include IAS officer Vasanthi Amar, BBMP Executive Engineer Errappa Reddy, and Town Planning Assistant Director Bagli Maruthi. The raids, led by Superintendent of Police Vamshikrishna, took place in RT Nagar and other areas of the city. The officials are suspected of possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income and are also being probed for unauthorized transfers of government land.
Errappa Reddy had recently been caught accepting a bribe of ₹10 lakh, placing him under further scrutiny. Authorities are currently examining documents and property records seized during the raids.
These actions form part of a broader anti-corruption initiative by the Karnataka Lokayukta. In June 2025, the agency searched 45 locations statewide, recovering assets worth ₹34.90 crore from eight government officials. Similar operations in April led to the seizure of over ₹8 crore in assets, including luxury vehicles and gold, from a government engineer in Ballari.
In March, raids were conducted against eight officials across various districts, including Bengaluru, Kolar, and Kalaburagi, as part of continuing efforts to address corruption within the state’s administrative framework.
The investigation into the three Bengaluru officials remains ongoing.
