Karnataka: Mysore Sandal Soap achieves record sales in November

  • KSDL has plans to expand into the markets of North India

The Mysore Sandal Soap has broken multiple records in sales in the month of November. Minister for Commerce & Industries, Infrastructure in the Government of Karnataka, MB Patil shared an announcement pertaining to this on the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter). “Karnataka’s Pride: Historic Mysore Sandal Soap. For the first time in the history of the company, in November 2023, the monthly production crossed 4144 metric tonnes.The monthly sales crossed 133 Crores and this is without any additional investment, only improved efficiency. KSDL (Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited) should cross annual revenue of 2000 Cr, this year. Our target in the five years would be for our annual revenue to touch close to 1 Billion dollars,” his post read.

Earlier the 107-year-old Public Sector Undertaking made plans to expand into the markets of North India. This includes launching new products such as Mysore Sandal Wave Turmeric, Mysore Sandal Wave Lime, Mysore Sandal Wave Deo, Mysore Sandal Shower Gel, Mysore Sandal Gold Shower Gel, Mysore Sandal Millennium Shower Gel, Mysore Sandal Aqua and mineral packaged drinking water bottles. Currently North India accounts to only 2.5 % of the company’s market shares. The company has also improved its productivity and is producing 125 tonnes per day as opposed to 100 tonnes produced previously.
