Namma Metro to extend up to Bidadi

DK Shivakumar highlighted that close to 10,000 acres of land that comes under the government in the region has not been used

A Greater Bengaluru Development Authority would be constituted

Plans to extend Namma Metro up to Bidadi are currently underway. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) would be prepared for this purpose “Over one lakh people are working in the Bidadi Industrial Area. To ease their commute, Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and Members of the Parliaments (MPs) had requested to extend the Metro project till Bidadi. Hence, I have asked BMRCL (Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited) to prepare the project report,”  Deputy Chief Minister for the state of Karnataka from the Indian National Congress (INC) D.K Shivakumar stated during the inauguration of a training centre at Toyota-Kirloskar.

Bidadi lies in between Bengaluru and Mysuru and is a key industrial town. DK Shivakumar highlighted that close to 10,000 acres of land that comes under the government in the region has not been used and hence the project would be feasible. The property rates in the region are expected to increase if this project fructifies. A Greater Bengaluru Development Authority would be constituted under which plans to develop Bidadi would also find a space for consideration. This trend was also witnessed in Delhi wherein the metro offers connectivity across two neighbouring states. The city of Noida in Uttar Pradesh is actually a shorthanded version of New Okhla Industrial Development Authority.
