A major infrastructure project in Karnataka is set to be unveiled tomorrow as Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Pralhad Joshi will inaugurate a state-of-the-art cable-stayed bridge constructed across the Sharavathi backwaters between Ambaragodlu and Kalasavalli near Sigandur in Sagara taluk, Shivamogga district.

Built at a cost of Rs 473 crore, this modern bridge spans a total length of 2,125 meters and was constructed by Dilip Buildcon Ltd, with the project starting on December 12, 2019, and completed by July 14, 2025. The inauguration ceremony will begin with a ritual at the sacred Sigandur temple, followed by a public meeting at Nehru Maidan in Sagara, which is expected to witness the participation of several dignitaries, including the possibility of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda.

The bridge stands out for its 470-meter-long steel cables supported by towers standing 38.5 meters high. It includes two pedestrian footpaths, each 1.5 meters wide, and road connectivity on either side ranging from 1.05 to 3 kilometers. The foundation of the bridge is reinforced with 164 piles, making it one of the technically advanced cable bridges in the state.
