The 4 transport corporations of Karnataka including the KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation), BMTC (Bengaluru Metro Transport Corporation), NWRTC (North Western Road Transport Corporation) and the KKRTC (Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation) requested the Karnataka state government for a total of Rs 250.96 Crore as funds to materialise the Shakti scheme. They had written a letter to the government with regard to this. The letter was written on June 30th.
The finance department has however divulged only Rs 125.48 crore in this regard. An order pertaining to this was released on August 1st. This would be renewed annually and the adjustments to be made to the amount dispensed would also be reviewed after a 1 year period. There is a concern among the employees of the transport corporations that their salaries may get affected by this.

A total of Rs 687 crore has been collected from the tickets for the 2 months wherein the shakti scheme was implemented. Of the Rs 687 crore, a lion’s share of Rs 260 crore was collected by the KSRTC.
