In a significant move, the Karnataka government has proposed to lower the SSLC (Class 10) exam pass marks from the existing 35% to 33% aggregate, bringing it in line with the CBSE evaluation model. Under this revised system, students would need to score a minimum of 33 marks per subject and at least 206 out of 625 total marks to be declared passed.

Previously, students were required to secure at least 35 marks in each subject and maintain a 35% overall aggregate to clear the exam. The proposed change is aimed at making the evaluation more student-friendly and reducing failure rates.

The state government has opened a 15-day window for public feedback before implementing the new rules. The decision has sparked mixed reactions, with the government yet to officially defend or explain the rationale behind the proposal.
