  • Police had denied permission for  Shri Ram Pooja: Hindu Mahasabha
  • Ramanagara Police denied allegations
  • Use of loud instruments in these rallies were denied

The Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha alleged on the microblogging site X (formerly known as Twitter) that the Ramanagara District Police had denied permission for  Shri Ram Pooja (prayer) in Ramanagara. They urged the Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramiah to allow citizens to perform religious activities immediately. “Note: Bharat divided only based on religion,” they stated in their post.

The Ramanagara police have however denied the allegations. “Ramanagar police has not denied permission to perform pooja. Please do not spread wrong information. Legal action will be initiated,” they said in response to the Hindu Mahasabha’s post.

It is however being reported that permissions for rallies were denied in many important parts of the city in light of the propensity for communal violence being higher in this region. It is also being said that the use of loud instruments in these rallies were denied to the organisers. Peaceful processions were however facilitated. They were even given police protection. There was also a cap of 20 people for the permission to be granted. The Pooja is however said to have taken place in a peaceful manner. The procession’s destination was the Kannika Parameshwari Devalaya. It commenced from the Ram Temple.
