The Infrastructure and Industries Department of Karnataka has assured the Centre that it is ready to provide 4,500 acres of land at any of the shortlisted locations. Among the Kanakapura Road sites, one falls in Bengaluru Urban district, while the other is in Ramanagara district. The nearest site to Harohalli is just 10 km away from the Green Line Metro station, making it an attractive option for connectivity.
According to the proposal, the Kanakapura Road sites have 4,800 to 5,000 acres available, while the Nelamangala site offers 5,200 acres for development. The state government has emphasized that all three locations are approximately 50 km from Bengaluru city center and well connected by national highways and roads.
A team from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has been dispatched to inspect the proposed locations. Following this, the central government will conduct a feasibility study, including financing and airspace availability, before making the final decision on the site selection for the new airport.
