In contrast to 2023, large parts of Karnataka have been recipient to a substantial amount of rain in the month of July. Particularly, the regions of Karvali and Malenadu have seen excess rain in this duration. The visuals from the renowned Jog Falls are stunning. Leaves have been declared in schools in the Uttara Kannada and Kodagu districts.
Predictions from the Indian Meteorological Department indicate that the next 4 days would also witness a similar surge of rain. A red alert has been issued in some districts. Schools and colleges in Bhatkal, Honnavar, Kumta, Ankola, Karwar, Shirsi, Siddapur, Yellapur, Dandeli and Joida have been closed in light of the red alert that has been issued.

The rain in the Kodagu district is reported to be erratic. Schools across Kodagu will be closed on July 15th. 6820 cubics of water have been released into the Kaveri river through 4 crest gates. The increase in water levels in the Kaveri river has made the authorities issue a warning to people living along the river banks. Heavy rains in Maharashtra also resulted in an increase in inflow of water in the Lal Bahadur Shastri Dam also known as the Almatti Dam. Warnings have been issued to people along the Krishna river banks.
