Vehicle users who have made it a habit to violate traffic rules need to exercise more caution in the coming days. Lapse in concentration or urgency to reach somewhere are no longer valid excuses. The Traffic Police are adopting new measures to deal with the menace of traffic violations.

Apart from Bengaluru, new traffic rules will be applicable across Karnataka. With an increase in the number of vehicles, controlling traffic has become a challenge for the police. The Intelligent Traffic Management System is already in place across Bengaluru to make note of violations even in the absence of officials. All signals have CCTV cameras attached to them.

The traffic police officials have been granted the freedom to take action against violators in the same spot at the time of offence. This has still not resulted in a decrease in violations.

Therefore, the police are planning to dispose of vehicles owned by those who have been noted to repeatedly violate laws. A meeting took place to discuss this proposal. A proposal has been placed in front of the government. Were this to be implemented, a payment of the fine would not suffice to recover vehicles. The proposal has been placed by the Karnataka State Road Safety Authority.
