CM (Chief Minister) Siddaramaiah responded to PM (Prime Minister) Narendra’s Modi scathing attack on the government of Karnataka. Narendra Modi had made a reference to Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s statement that funds could not be allocated for development in the 1st year of the Congress rule. He labelled this, “political selfishness”.
CM Siddaramaiah took to the social media platform, Twitter to give a detailed response to Narendra Modi. Firstly he appreciated the concern the prime minister had for the state. He however sought clarification about whether what he expressed was his personal opinion, or his position as a prime minister of the country or if the statements were reflective of the party he represents, the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party).
He stated that lack of clarity with regard to this was concerning. He said that this was a prerequisite to opposing the guaranteed schemes.
He further stated that the BJP leaders of Karnataka must publicly oppose the schemes if they were to be consistent with Modi’s view on the same. He pointed out that the BJP manifesto had mentioned free gas cylinders and milk and asked if they were not akin to a freebie. He pointed out instances in Madhya Pradesh where the government had deposited Rs 1000 to the accounts of women and the PM Kisan Samman Yojana that deposited Rs 6000 to the accounts of farmers. He pointed out that 1.25 lakh crore was being invested by the central government for similar schemes.
He reiterated that the people of Karnataka have faith in the Congress government which they initiated due to mismanagement by the BJP.
