5 members of a family in Chitradurga were not seen since July 2019. The skeletal remains of their body have now been procured by the police. As per the accounts of the relatives of the family, the family maintained minimal contact with their surroundings. They were also reported to have many health related complications.

2 months prior to uncovering the skeletal remains, the wooden door of their house was noticed to have been broken. This was noticed when people in the neighbourhood were out on a morning walk. The police were however not notified about this development.

Currently, it has been ascertained that the house has broken into on multiple occasions. Many items in the house have also been ransacked in this process.

2 skeletons were found in a bed whereas 2 were lying on the floor. One of the skeletons was found inside a room.

The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team from Devengere and Scene of Crime Officers (SOCOs) arrived at the scene to collect evidence. Security around the premises was increased to aid this process. It is suspected that a couple in their 80s, their son, daughter and a grandson are among the deceased. A confirmation of the same will be received only after investigations. A forensic report of the incident will be filed shortly.
