Karnataka: Sowmya Reddy v/s Rakshita Eiti; who’ll lead Congress Women’s wing?

    Nomination will begin on July 24th

    Decision will be taken on August 9th

    Kripa Amar Alwa and Kamalakshi Rajanna are contendors

The Indian National Congress (INC) is looking to fill up 2 leadership positions in 2 of its prominent wings in Karnataka. This includes the Women’s wing named All India  Mahila Congress (AIMC) and the Student’s wing named National Students Union of India (NSUI). 

Attempts to nominate a person to lead AIMC were made on 3 occasions but however no fruitful outcome emerged. Pushpa Amaranth continued in her position as the head as a result of this. All India Mahila Congress (AIMC) President Alka Lamba called leaders to Delhi to hold a discussion in this regard. 

Sowmya Reddy who contested from the Bengaluru South constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections is said to be one of the top contenders for the post. Other names include Rakshitha Eiti, Kripa Amar Alwa and Kamalakshi Rajanna. Pushpa will continue in her role until a new head is appointed.

The nominations for this process will begin on July 24th. August 2nd would be the last date for the same. The nominations will be examined between August 3rd to August 8th. The decision in this regard will be made on August 9th. This time whoever finishes second in the voting process will also be accommodated in a decision-making role.
