Launched as one of the key pre-poll guarantees, the Shakti scheme offers free bus travel for women across Karnataka in state-run buses. Now, with the scheme crossing the 500 crore mark in terms of total rides, the government has announced a day of celebratory activities across all districts and taluks.
As part of the festivities, the Guarantee Implementation Committee, led by state president H M Revanna, has directed local bodies to conduct special events. These include ceremonial poojas for buses, distribution of sweets to passengers, and public awareness drives about the scheme’s benefits.
Instructions have been issued to all district- and taluk-level Guarantee Implementation Committees to ensure coordinated celebrations, highlighting the impact of the scheme in transforming daily commute options for lakhs of women across the state.
