Karnataka is set to develop a new industrial hub, the SWIFT City (Startups, Workspaces, Innovation, Finance, and Technology), in the Sarjapur area of Bengaluru. The project, covering over 1,000 acres in the Sarjapur Industrial Area, aims to strengthen the state’s startup ecosystem and foster integrated industrial development.

Karnataka’s Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil highlighted that the city will focus on key sectors like startups, innovation, and technology. “This is to create integrated industrial development and strengthen the state’s startup ecosystem,” Patil said, as reported by MoneyControl. The SWIFT City will be Karnataka’s third major planned industrial hub, after Electronic City and ITPL (International Tech Park, Whitefield).
In September, Patil confirmed that land for the Startup Park in Sarjapur had been identified. Recently, the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) issued Requests for Proposals (RFP) for a consultant to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Sarjapur Industrial Area, which spans 647.69 acres. The DPR will cover economic analysis, layout planning, cost estimates, and other essential details for the project’s execution.

The SWIFT City project is expected to drive growth in technology, finance, and innovation sectors, contributing significantly to the state’s economic development and bolstering its position as a startup hub.
