In a move to strengthen Karnataka's position as a leader in technology and innovation, the State Cabinet has approved the establishment of a ₹28 crore Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The project, set to be spearheaded by the Department of IT/BT, will be based in Bengaluru, further cementing the city's reputation as a global technology hub.

The decision, announced on Thursday, November 14, aligns with the state's commitment to enhancing its tech ecosystem and fostering innovation. Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil highlighted that the initiative would attract talent and investments, boosting Karnataka’s standing in the AI domain.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved a comprehensive policy for Global Capability Centers, positioning Karnataka as a prime destination for multinational companies seeking to establish operations. The policy is expected to create significant employment opportunities and promote the state as a global business hub.

In a separate decision, the Cabinet allocated ₹20 crore to develop an organic and millet hub in Hebbal, Bengaluru, under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana. The initiative aims to promote organic farming and trade, with funding shared by the State and Central governments contributing ₹8 crore and ₹12 crore, respectively.

These initiatives underline Karnataka's focus on technology-driven development and sustainable agriculture, setting a benchmark for innovation and growth.
