Eastern Connectivity Tunnel to Ease Travel to KIA

In a major infrastructure boost, Bengaluru’s KIA is set to benefit from the construction of an Eastern Connectivity Tunnel, designed to cut travel time by 30 minutes for commuters from the city’s eastern areas, including Whitefield, Sarjapur, and Mahadevapura. The tunnel will bypass the congested Hebbal flyover, providing a direct alternative route for airport-bound traffic.

Traffic Diversion and Urban Mobility

The tunnel is expected to divert nearly 30% of traffic from existing routes, alleviating congestion and improving traffic flow across the city. This initiative aligns with the ₹16,500 crore expansion plan by the Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) to meet rising aviation demands.

Timeline for Completion

Construction of the Eastern Connectivity Tunnel is scheduled to begin this year, with completion anticipated within three years, enhancing accessibility to KIA significantly.
