The Shivamogga city in the picturesque Malnad region is decked up for the mega launch of the State Congress government’s fifth poll guarantee ‘Yuva Nidhi’ scheme.
The historic event will be held on the birth anniversary of youth icon Swami Vivekananda on Friday, January 12 at Freedom Park located in the heart of the city. A massive stage has been erected and seating arrangements have been made for over 85,000 people to attend the event.
The ‘Yuva Nidhi’ scheme offering monthly unemployment allowance to the unemployed degree and diploma holders will be launched in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Medical Education and Skill Development Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, ministers including Madhu Bangarappa, Dr MC Sudhakar, legislators, officials and other dignitaries.
More than 1 lakh beneficiaries from Shivamogga, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Chikkamagaluru, Udupi and Haveri districts are expected to take part in the event which will be kickstarted at 11 am. The first allowance will be released soon after the launch of the programme.
Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, said, “The State Congress government has walked the talk and we have fulfilled the five guarantees promised ahead of assembly polls. The people of our country are expecting the Karnataka model of administration.”
What is the Yuva Nidhi Scheme?
The Congress party, as part of its election manifesto, for the assembly election had announced five guarantees for the welfare of the people and Yuva Nidhi is one of them.
The government has already implemented four poll guarantees. As per this scheme, unemployed degree and diploma holders will get monthly unemployment allowance. The graduates will get Rs 3000 per month while the diploma holders will receive Rs 1500. The beneficiaries will get this benefit till they get jobs or maximum two years.
How to register?
- The applicants must be residents of Karnataka.
- The applicants must have obtained a degree/diploma in 2023 and remained unemployed even after 180 days of completion of their education.
- The benefit will end soon after the applicant gets a job.
- The unemployment allowance will be available till the applicant gets a job or for maximum two years from the date of application.
- The applicant must possess an Aadhar card, bank passbook, ration card, mark sheets of SSLC, PUC, Degree or Diploma.
- The applications can be submitted at Karnataka One, Grama One, Bapuji Seva Kendra or Seva Sindhu portal.
Who is ineligible?
- The scheme is not applicable for those who have enrolled for higher education and continuing studies.
- Not applicable for those getting scholarships.
- The scheme is not applicable for those employed in government/private sectors.
