  • Government urged to file appeal

Following legal clearance for bike taxi services, private transport associations urge the government to file an appeal, citing key concerns raised in the court directive.

The issue of bike taxi operations has taken a new turn after receiving a green signal, prompting strong reactions from private transport organisations. In response to the developments, a collective of private transport bodies has stepped forward, urging the state government to challenge the existing court order through an appeal.

On Wednesday, representatives from 22 private transport organisations jointly approached the office of the Transport Commissioner to submit a formal memorandum. The delegation was led by S. Nataraj Sharma, who heads the federation of private transport associations. The submission marks a coordinated effort to press the government for immediate legal intervention.

The transport bodies have also submitted representations to the Transport Minister, the Transport Secretary, and the Transport Commissioner. Through these appeals, they have demanded that the government carefully review the implications of the court’s direction related to bike taxi operations and move forward with filing a formal appeal.
According to the memorandum, the court order has raised several critical questions concerning regulation, enforcement, and the broader impact on the existing transport ecosystem. The private transport organisations have argued that these unresolved issues make the order fit for reconsideration by a higher legal forum.

The memorandum clearly outlines the reasons why an appeal is justified, stressing that the decision could affect traditional transport service providers and regulatory frameworks. The organisations have insisted that these aspects were not adequately addressed and must be examined before implementing the order fully.

With pressure mounting from organised transport groups, the government is now expected to examine the representations and decide on the next course of action regarding the court order and the future of bike taxi operations.
