According to police sources, Byrathi Basavaraju is named as an accused in the Biklu Shiva murder case. The police had earlier informed the High Court that the killing was carried out with the alleged support and involvement of the MLA. Based on this claim, investigators intensified efforts to track him down.
Basavaraju had gone into hiding after failing to secure anticipatory bail. On Thursday morning, the Supreme Court also refused to grant him anticipatory bail, leaving him with no legal relief. Following the court’s decision, he returned to Bengaluru, where he was immediately detained by the police.
The arrest marks a major development in the high-profile murder investigation. Police officials said further questioning and legal procedures will follow as part of the ongoing probe into the case.
More details are expected as the investigation progresses.
