H.Y. Meti (Hullappa Yamanappa Meti) was a well-known figure in Karnataka politics, representing the Bagalkote constituency. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 2023, defeating BJP’s Veeranna Charantimath. However, he had lost the 2018 Assembly elections before making a comeback in 2023.
A seasoned politician, Meti had served as the Excise Minister in the Siddaramaiah-led government from 2013 to 2016. During his tenure, he played an active role in the administration but later resigned following allegations linked to a controversial video.
Despite the controversy, Meti continued to remain active in public life and maintained a strong connection with his constituency.
