Former PM HD Devegowda extends support to Hassan victims’ families, assures education for Gokul’s sister

Announcing immediate relief measures, Devegowda declared that his party would provide ₹1 lakh compensation to each family of the deceased, ₹25,000 for the seriously injured, ₹20,000 for those moderately hurt, and ₹15,000 for minor injuries.

Hassan witnessed a tragic incident during the Mosalehosalli Ganapati procession when a speeding truck ran over devotees, leaving ten people dead. Today, former Prime Minister H.D. Devegowda personally visited the bereaved families, offering condolences and financial assistance.

Devegowda met the grieving parents of Ishwar from Danayakanahalli and Gokul from Muthige Hirehalli, who perished together in the accident. Overcome with emotion, Gokul’s mother, Gayatri, broke down before Gowda, recalling how her son regularly supported her by taking her to and from work. “Who else will help me now?” she wept, lamenting the irreparable loss.

₹1 lakh compensation to each family of the deceased

In response, Devegowda assured the family that the education of Gokul’s younger sister would be taken up entirely under his responsibility. “No matter how long she studies, her financial needs will be looked after. Keep the compensation in deposit; it will help in the future,” he advised the family, acknowledging their limited means.
