The rainfall is set to impact districts including Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Belgaum, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Vijayapura, Yadgir, Bellary, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore City, and Chamarajanagar. Other areas such as Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davangere, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Ramanagara, Shivamogga, Tumkur, and Vijayanagar are also forecast to receive showers.

Rain has already been reported in areas such as Gopalnagar, MM Hills, Bhagamandala, Kolar, Kundapur, Magadi, and Udupi, with cloudy skies covering much of the state. However, short dry spells may also be experienced in some regions.

IMD attributes persistent rains to air pressure changes

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has attributed the persistent rains to air pressure changes, with low-pressure systems influencing rainfall patterns across south interior Karnataka and the Comorin region. Additionally, air currents at higher altitudes over the coastal regions of Bengal and Tamil Nadu are further contributing to the ongoing showers.

Despite these rainfall patterns, Bengaluru has seen a 12% rainfall deficit this year. Typically, the city receives 452.4 mm between June and September, but only 396.5 mm was recorded this year, attributed to shifting weather systems.
