Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) D.K. Shivakumar has expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing social and educational survey, which he claims is too slow and burdensome. Speaking at his residence, where he and his wife Usha participated in the survey, Shivakumar voiced frustration over the enumerators' lengthy questioning.

The survey, which took over an hour at his residence, asked a range of personal questions, including details about his caste, family background, and even the number of properties he owns. Shivakumar stated that despite being born in Bangalore South and identifying as a Hindu Vokkaliga Gowda, he had never received any government reservations or benefits.

DCM irritated by the excessive number of questions

The DCM, who works as a public servant and is also self-employed, seemed irritated by the excessive number of questions. "Who keeps all these?" he asked about the survey forms, adding, "If you’re sick, have you taken insurance? Who provides all this to you?" His comments highlighted concerns about the survey's complexity, urging a simplification of the process.

Shivakumar appealed to citizens, particularly in Bengaluru, to remain patient and cooperate with the survey. However, he pointed out that the city's residents, unlike those in rural areas, often lack the patience to answer such detailed questions. He also suggested that online participation could help ease the process, stressing the need for sensitivity in conducting the survey.
