Teachers to be fully engaged in the ongoing socio-economic and educational survey as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah-led meeting approves extension of school holidays till October 18.
The Karnataka government has officially extended Dasara holidays for all schools across the state till October 18, following a decision made during a key meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday.

The move comes as the state continues its large-scale socio-economic and educational survey, which requires the full participation of teachers. The Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association had earlier submitted a request urging the government to provide complete holiday relief so that teachers could focus entirely on survey duties.
Officials noted that using teachers for half-day school work and half-day survey duties had become impractical and unfair to both students and the survey process. To ensure efficiency and accuracy in data collection, the state has now decided to engage teachers exclusively for survey work until the completion of this major exercise.

This extension, though affecting the academic calendar slightly, is seen as essential for the successful completion of one of Karnataka’s most comprehensive socio-economic surveys in recent years. The survey aims to assess social, economic, and educational indicators across districts, shaping future state policies.
