In a welcome move for job aspirants, the Karnataka government has announced a significant relaxation in the age limit for all categories in state government recruitments. Effective immediately, the government has raised the age limit by three years for candidates applying for civil service posts and other government jobs.

This decision comes after a prolonged delay in recruitment, primarily due to the pending implementation of internal reservation within the Scheduled Castes. For several years, no direct recruitment was carried out for positions reserved for specific castes, and even backlog posts remained unfilled. The government had also directed all recruitment authorities to refrain from issuing any notifications from October 28, 2024, until further orders, halting state recruitment for nearly a year.
More candidates will now be eligible to apply
The relaxation in the age limit is a response to growing concerns among job seekers, particularly students from Dharwad, who had recently staged protests demanding this change. Many candidates, frustrated by the recruitment freeze, faced the risk of aging out of eligibility for competitive exams due to delays in government hiring.
This proactive measure by the state government ensures that more candidates will now be eligible to apply for upcoming vacancies, addressing both the backlog in recruitment and the concerns of job seekers across Karnataka.
