School Education Department issues official circular for online registration and DISE code allotment to eligible non-profit organisations

The Karnataka Government’s School Education Department has issued an official circular inviting online applications to start new private unaided pre-primary, primary and high schools for the academic year 2026-27.

As per the notification, interested organisations must complete online registration to obtain a School DISE (District Information System for Education) code, which is mandatory for setting up and operating educational institutions in the state.

The department has clarified that only eligible registered non-profit bodies can apply. These include societies registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960; charitable trusts registered under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882; companies registered under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013; and limited liability partnership firms operating strictly on a non-profit basis.

The move is aimed at expanding access to quality education across Karnataka by encouraging the establishment of new schools, especially in growing urban and semi-urban areas. Officials said the online system would ensure transparency, efficiency, and faster processing of applications.

Applicants must strictly follow government guidelines, infrastructure norms, and academic standards prescribed by the department. Once approved, the institutions will be granted a DISE code, allowing them to function officially under the state’s education framework.

The department has urged eligible organisations to carefully go through the circular and complete the registration process within the stipulated timeline to avoid delays.
