In a strategic move to boost employment among educated youth, the Karnataka government has rolled out an intensive training initiative aimed at transforming fresh graduates into skilled educators. Even as the state grapples with substantial teacher vacancies in government institutions, this new program focuses on securing teaching placements for young candidates in private schools affiliated with the State Education Board and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The initiative is a collaborative effort spearheaded by the Karnataka Skill Development Corporation alongside the Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya National Training Facility for Skills for All (BMVNTFSA). According to BMVNTFSA Director Srinivas Kulkarni, the program welcomes graduates from diverse academic backgrounds, including Arts, Science, and Computer Science. Specifically, candidates holding degrees such as BSc, MSc, BCA, MCA, MA in Sociology or English, BA, and BE are eligible to apply, regardless of whether they possess a formal BEd degree. The training primarily targets recent graduates from the batches of 2022 through 2025.

To ensure high-quality instruction, organizations like Hands on Foundation and Connecting the Dots are providing expert resource persons. The curriculum is structured as a comprehensive four-week residential program designed to refine the candidates' communication abilities, presentation skills, and foundational STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) knowledge. Furthermore, the mentors will continue to offer guidance to the trainees for an entire year after the initial 28-day camp concludes.

A notable aspect of the initiative is its alignment with state welfare schemes; preference is being given to Yuva Nidhi Plus beneficiaries to accelerate their transition into the workforce. Upon completion of the training, various private schools—primarily located in districts like Tumakuru, Davangere, Chitradurga, and Tarikere—will conduct campus interviews to directly recruit the newly upskilled educators.
