Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah is reportedly hosting a dinner for ministers on October 13, fueling speculation of a major cabinet reshuffle and party consolidation ahead of leadership talks.

According to insiders, the Chief Minister indicated to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) high command that he plans to replace around 50% of current ministers, inducting new faces to strengthen his position. Party sources suggest that bringing in approximately 15 new ministers could make it harder for the high command to alter the Chief Minister’s role immediately, as a refreshed cabinet would already be in place. This move appears strategic, timed after the Bihar elections, to consolidate leadership within the Karnataka Congress.
When asked about the reshuffle, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar avoided confirming reports, stating, “I will not interfere in any of it. This is left to the Chief Minister and the party. I can only give suggestions. No one should create confusion.” Similarly, Home Minister G Parameshwar dismissed the idea of a November “revolution,” calling the dinner a casual meeting without a formal agenda.

Despite official denials, political observers have noted signs of leadership speculation, especially after chants of “Next Chief Minister DK Shivakumar” were heard in Kolar’s Malur taluk during a local event attended by the Deputy Chief Minister. Party insiders say these developments reflect the ongoing internal power equations within the Congress in Karnataka.
