The new cap was officially unveiled at a ceremony held at the Banquet Hall in Vidhana Soudha. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar presented the caps to the police personnel as a symbolic gesture of change. The event also saw the launch of an anti-drug campaign and the release of the Sanmitra initiative.

Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara, speaking at the event, said he had long envisioned this change but couldn’t implement it during his previous tenure. “This time, we made it happen,” he said. DCM Shivakumar, meanwhile, appreciated the work of the SIT and saluted their dedication.

CM Siddaramaiah revealed that he personally chose the new cap model, emphasizing that it was designed for better comfort and health benefits. “You look great in these caps,” he remarked, noting that the older slouch hats often fell off during marches, protests, or public duty, making them inconvenient for daily policing.
