Karnataka Milk Federation moves Malleswaram police against a Bengaluru-based dermatologist over viral video claims terming Nandini products toxic, unsafe, and cancer-causing.
Serious allegations made against popular Nandini dairy products have now led to legal action, with the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) filing a formal complaint against a Bengaluru-based dermatologist.
The complaint has been registered at the Malleswaram Police Station against Dr Sharanya Padmaja, who works as a skin specialist at a private hospital. KMF has accused her of spreading false and misleading information about Nandini products through a video uploaded on social media on February 8.
What Are the Allegations?
In the video, Dr Sharanya Padmaja reportedly claimed that several Nandini products are toxic and contain harmful chemicals. She specifically named items such as Nandini cream bun, strawberry-flavoured milk, and splash beverages, alleging they are unsafe for daily consumption.
According to the complaint, she stated that regular intake of these products could lead to autoimmune diseases, requiring steroid-like medications. She further claimed that long-term consumption might even increase the risk of cancer.

She also alleged that Nandini’s strawberry-flavoured milk does not contain natural strawberries and instead uses artificial colours and chemicals. Questioning regulatory approvals, she reportedly asked how the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) permits such products. She also accused KMF of prioritising profits over public health.
KMF’s Stand
KMF has strongly denied all allegations, terming them baseless and misleading. In its complaint, the federation stated that all Nandini products undergo strict quality checks and receive FSSAI approval before being released into the market. It maintained that Nandini is a trusted and healthy brand and that such claims can damage public confidence.
KMF further said that spreading unverified information can create unnecessary fear among consumers. The federation has demanded strict legal action against those circulating false information and harming the reputation of a public cooperative brand.
Following the complaint, police have registered a case and initiated further investigation. Authorities are expected to examine the video content, scientific basis of the claims, and regulatory compliance of the products.
