  • Revised KSRTC luggage charges effective February 16
  • Rates increased due to diesel and operational cost rise
  • New slabs range from ₹6 to ₹145

Revised non-passenger luggage rates come into force from February 16 following rising diesel, staff, and operational costs; updated fare chart officially released.

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has implemented a revised fare structure for non-passenger luggage transportation on its buses, effective from today, February 16. The decision comes in response to a steady rise in diesel prices, staff-related expenses, and overall operational costs.

According to KSRTC officials, the revised charges apply exclusively to luggage transported without accompanying passengers. The corporation clarified that while ticket fares were revised earlier, luggage charges were not increased at that time. The last revision in luggage tariffs was carried out in 2021, making the current update long overdue.

In an official order issued by KSRTC Managing Director Akram Pasha, the corporation announced the new slab-wise luggage rates and released a detailed fare chart for public reference. The move aims to balance rising operational expenses while ensuring continued service efficiency across the network.

As per the revised structure, the minimum charge for transporting luggage over short distances has been fixed at ₹6 for 1 to 5 stages. For mid-range distances between 6 and 12 stages, the charge has been set at ₹12. For long-distance transportation covering 156 to 160 stages, the maximum luggage fare will be ₹145.

KSRTC officials said the revision was unavoidable due to escalating diesel prices, increased staff costs, and other administrative expenses, which have significantly impacted the corporation’s financial sustainability. The updated rates are expected to help partially offset these rising expenditures while maintaining reliable transport services.

Passengers and commercial users sending parcels through KSRTC buses are advised to check the revised fare chart before dispatching luggage. The corporation has also instructed all depots and booking counters to strictly implement the new rates from February 16.

The updated luggage tariff list has already been circulated across KSRTC units and made available to the public to ensure transparency and smooth implementation of the revised charges.
