KSRTC to operate 1,000 special buses for Christmas rush across Karnataka

KSRTC will run additional buses during Christmas to handle travel demand. Special services will operate from December 19 to 28, connecting Bengaluru with major Karnataka and inter-State destinations, along with discounts and advance booking options.

To manage the festive travel surge, KSRTC will deploy 1,000 additional buses between December 19 and 28, connecting Bengaluru with major religious, tourist, commercial, and inter-State destinations.

In view of the heavy travel demand during the Christmas season, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has announced the operation of 1,000 additional buses across the State and to neighbouring regions.

According to KSRTC, these special services will operate in addition to the regular schedule on December 19, 20, and 24, ahead of Christmas celebrations on December 25. The initiative aims to provide comfortable and timely travel options to passengers during the festive rush.

To ensure a smooth return for travellers after the festival, KSRTC will also run return special services from various intra-State and inter-State destinations to Bengaluru on December 26 and December 28.

As per the official release, exclusive special buses will operate from Bengaluru’s Kempegowda Bus Station to several key religious, tourist, and commercial centres. These include Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapura, Sringeri, Horanadu, Davangere, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Koppala, Yadgir, Bidar, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Hyderabad, and other destinations.

In addition, special services from Mysuru Road Bus Station will be operated exclusively towards Mysuru, Hunsur, Piriyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalanagar, and Madikeri, catering to holiday travellers heading towards the Mysuru and Kodagu regions.

KSRTC has enabled advanced computerised reservations for all special buses. Passengers have been advised to carefully check their boarding points mentioned on the tickets. Tickets can be booked online through the official KSRTC website and at reservation counters across Karnataka and other States.

To promote group travel, KSRTC is offering a 5% fare discount for four or more passengers booking on a single ticket. Additionally, passengers can avail a 10% discount on return journey fares if both onward and return tickets are booked together.

The transport corporation has also stated that special buses will be operated from all taluk and district bus stands based on traffic demand, ensuring hassle-free travel throughout the festive period.
