Padma Awards 2026: Eight achievers from Karnataka honoured

Eight achievers from Karnataka win Padma Awards 2026, including centenarian R. Ganesh with Padma Bhushan; seven others honored with Padma Shri

The Central Government has announced the prestigious Padma Awards for 2026, recognizing 131 distinguished individuals across the nation. Among them, eight achievers from Karnataka have brought pride to the state with their remarkable contributions in diverse fields.

Leading the list is centenarian R. Ganesh, who has been conferred the Padma Bhushan in the category of Arts. His recognition stands out as a testament to a lifetime dedicated to cultural enrichment and artistic excellence.

The Padma Shri has been awarded to seven eminent personalities from Karnataka. Anke Gowda M and SG Sushilamma have been honored for their tireless work in social service, while Dr. Prabhakar Basavaprabhu Kore and Shashi Shekhar Vempathy have been recognized for their contributions to literature and education. Shubha Venkatesh Iyengar has been awarded for achievements in science and engineering, and Dr. Suresh Hanavadi for his service in the medical field. Additionally, TT Jagannathan has been posthumously honored for his impact in trade and industry.

This year’s Padma Awards include five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri recipients nationwide. Karnataka’s representation highlights the state’s rich legacy of service, innovation, and cultural advancement, with honorees spanning arts, education, science, medicine, and industry.
