Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM and actor Pawan Kalyan visits Chintamani for Justice V. Gopalagowda’s 75th birthday, amid hopes of addressing Krishna River water supply to Chikkaballapur and Kolar districts.
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Power Star Pawan Kalyan arrived in Chintamani this morning via helicopter to participate in the 75th birthday celebrations of retired Supreme Court Justice V. Gopalagowda. Thousands of fans and locals from Chikkaballapur and Kolar, where Telugu cinema enjoys high popularity, gathered to catch a glimpse of the superstar.

Pawan Kalyan visited the residence of former MLA J.K. Krishna Reddy, where he shared breakfast and interacted with Justice V. Gopalagowda and other dignitaries, including Union Minister V. Somanna, former MLA Krishna Reddy, and Kolar MP Mallesh Babu, before attending the main stage program.
Although the event is officially a birthday celebration, there is speculation that it could serve as a platform to discuss critical regional water issues. Justice V. Gopalagowda, originally from the undivided Kolar district, has actively supported local development and farmers’ rights post-retirement. He has been involved in campaigns against KIADB land acquisition and for equitable water distribution.

Farmers in Chikkaballapur and Kolar are demanding Krishna River water be diverted from Andhra Pradesh’s Hindupur and Kuppam regions to their districts, as local KC and HN valley water is currently unsuitable for drinking or irrigation. Proper pipeline infrastructure could deliver 2-3 TMC of water to both districts at an estimated cost of ₹1,000 crore. Experts suggest this solution could support agriculture, drinking water, and horticulture.
With the presence of Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan and Union Water Resources Minister V. Somanna, local leaders and Justice Gopalagowda may push for prioritizing water diversion to meet Chikkaballapur and Kolar’s irrigation and drinking needs.
