The Department of Posts is set to restore ATM services across Karnataka, reopening 76 machines, including 14 in Bengaluru, which had been out of service for the past seven months due to technical difficulties. A departmental official reportedly confirmed that a new vendor has been appointed to manage the ATM operations both in Karnataka and nationwide. The vendor has already inspected 12 of the locations, with plans to remove the existing ATMs from the previous vendor.

These ATMs, which had been closed due to vendor-related issues such as cash loading and security personnel payment, will soon be accessible to both Department of Posts debit cardholders and customers from other banks. The official assured that the ATMs would be operational shortly, benefiting the public, including areas like Channapatna and New Thippasandra in Bengaluru.
Savings account holders welcome reopening of ATMs
The decision to close the ATMs impacted many senior citizens, who had to visit post offices to withdraw cash. Local residents have expressed their relief and gratitude following the announcement of the reopening. Savings account holders welcomed the move, noting that it would particularly benefit senior citizens and middle-class families who rely on postal services for banking and they also shared their excitement about the convenience this would bring, especially with an ATM now available nearby.
