In a dramatic turn in the Renukaswamy murder case, Kannada actor Darshan was arrested again now after the Supreme Court canceled his bail. Police detained the actor at his wife Vijayalakshmi’s residence in Hosakerehalli and escorted him to the Annapoorneshwari police station.

The arrest follows a significant ruling from the Supreme Court, which overturned the Karnataka High Court’s decision granting bail to Darshan, co-accused Pavithra Gowda, and five others. The state government had challenged the High Court’s order, arguing that the release could affect the investigation and trial.

Supreme Court bench observation

A bench comprising Justice J.B. Pardiwala and Justice Mahadevan observed that the High Court had erred in granting bail in the high-profile case. The court ruled in favor of the state’s petition, resulting in the immediate cancellation of bail for all seven accused.

Along with Darshan and Pavithra Gowda, the other accused ordered back to judicial custody include Pradush, Nagaraj, Lakshman, Anukumar, and Jagadish. Following the verdict, police have initiated steps to re-arrest the remaining accused.

The Renukaswamy case has gripped Karnataka’s public and film industry for months, drawing intense media attention. With the Supreme Court’s latest order, the trial is set to proceed with all prime accused back in custody, marking a major development in one of the state’s most closely watched criminal cases.
