Japanese automotive component maker Shinko Nameplate Co. has announced plans to set up its maiden manufacturing facility in India, selecting Karnataka as the preferred destination. The company, known globally for producing decorative parts such as emblems, key fobs, and interior components, will invest ₹100 crore in the first phase of the project.

A delegation from Karnataka recently held discussions with the company’s leadership in Japan, where the investment decision was formally conveyed. The upcoming plant will be developed as a greenfield project and is expected to cater to the growing demand for premium decorative plastic components in India’s expanding automotive sector.

Officials said the facility would enhance Karnataka’s reputation as the country’s leading hub for automobiles and electric vehicles. With several multinational manufacturers already operating in the state, the addition of Shinko Nameplate is expected to further consolidate its position in the global auto supply chain.

The Karnataka government has assured full support to the company, promising a conducive environment to ensure smooth establishment of operations. State representatives also urged the Japanese manufacturer to expedite the project’s execution and begin production at the earliest.

Industry observers believe the move underlines India’s growing importance as a manufacturing base for global automotive suppliers, with Karnataka continuing to attract high-value foreign investments in both conventional and electric mobility segments.
