SSLC & PUC exams 2026: Over 16 lakh students to appear, Education Minister announces tight security & full preparations

With SSLC and PUC exams nearing, the Karnataka Education Department has announced full preparedness, strict security, and exam schedules. Over 16 lakh students will appear, with tight monitoring, free transport, and firm action against paper leak rumours.

Ahead of the SSLC and PUC examinations, Karnataka Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa detailed exam schedules, student numbers, security measures, free transport, and strict action against question paper leaks.

With the SSLC and PUC examinations fast approaching, the Karnataka Education Department has released a comprehensive update on exam schedules, preparedness, security arrangements, and student facilities. Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa addressed the media at a press conference held at 1 pm, outlining key measures to ensure smooth and fair conduct of the examinations.

Exam Schedule and Student Strength

PUC Examination 2026 will be conducted from February 28 to March 17, 2026. A total of 7,10,363 students will appear, including 6,46,801 fresh candidates, 50,540 repeaters, and 13,022 private candidates. Exams will be conducted across 5,174 colleges and schools, with 1,217 examination centres. The tentative result date is April 7, 2026, while Exam-2 will be held from April 25 to May 9, 2026, with results expected on May 22, 2026.

SSLC Examination 2026 will take place from March 18 to April 2, 2026. A total of 9,02,889 students will appear, including 8,12,855 fresh candidates, 62,845 repeaters, and 27,189 private candidates. Exams will be conducted in 15,941 schools across 2,871 centres. The tentative result date is April 24, 2026. SSLC Exam-2 will be conducted from May 18 to May 25, 2026, and results are expected on June 1, 2026.

Strict Action Against Question Paper Leak

The Education Department has announced strict vigilance against question paper leaks and misinformation. Special monitoring will be carried out on social media platforms to track accounts spreading false claims of leaked question papers for financial gain. Such accounts will be blocked, and strict legal action will be initiated. Police support has also been sought to ensure smooth and secure conduct of examinations.

Free Transport Facility for Students

To help students reach examination centres without difficulty, free travel facilities will be provided in KSRTC and BMTC buses during the examination period for both SSLC and PUC students.
