The situation is exacerbated by the release of water from Maharashtra, which has further raised water levels in the Bhima and Kagina rivers, flooding numerous villages. Affected farmers have reported significant crop damage, including the loss of tur dal, cotton, and paddy. The overflow from canals has also worsened the flooding, leaving several temples and houses under water, pushing residents into a state of panic and distress.

Affected communities call for urgent government intervention

The Uttaradi Mutt in Malkheda, Sedam taluk, is also severely impacted, with the sanctum sanctorum and cowshed submerged. The mutt’s cows have been relocated to the upper floors of the building. Chief priest Yankannachar has appealed to local officials, including Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, for immediate relief.

The floodwaters have reached Jettur village in Chincholi taluk, where every house is affected. The local Tahsildar is overseeing rescue operations, helping stranded villagers move to safer locations. As the situation worsens, affected communities are calling for urgent government intervention and the establishment of care centers to provide relief.
