Transport minister Ramalinga Reddy orders clean-up drive at bus stations across Karnataka

Minister warns KSRTC, BMTC, NWKRTC of contract cancellations for poor hygiene and overcharging at bus station toilets.

Karnataka’s Transport and Muzrai Minister, Ramalinga Reddy, has come down heavily on state-run transport corporations over the poor state of sanitation at bus stations.

The directive came after complaints surfaced about unhygienic toilets at the Satellite Bus Stop on Bengaluru-Mysuru Road, where even women passengers reported discomfort due to foul conditions near the ticket counter.

Calling cleanliness a non-negotiable responsibility, Reddy directed the Managing Directors of KSRTC, BMTC, and NWKRTC to ensure toilets across all bus stations are maintained to acceptable standards. He further warned that repeated grievances about unhygienic facilities or passengers being overcharged for toilet use will not be tolerated.

The minister also issued a stern caution to private contractors managing these toilets, stating that failure to maintain hygiene would result in immediate termination of their agreements.
