To combat the alarming rise in cardiac problems, the Health Department has approved a master plan to set up a state-of-the-art Cath Lab at Sir CV Raman Nagar Hospital.
With heart attacks and cardiac-related issues steadily increasing, Karnataka’s Health Department has rolled out a master plan to strengthen public healthcare. Under this initiative, a new Cath Lab (Catheterization Laboratory) will be set up at Sir CV Raman Nagar Hospital in Bengaluru.

The decision, taken during a review meeting chaired by the Health Minister, aims to fulfill a long-standing demand for localized cardiac care in government hospitals. Until now, many patients were forced to rely on private hospitals, where costs for procedures like angioplasty and angiogram are often unaffordable.
The new Cath Lab will allow doctors to detect heart diseases precisely, perform non-surgical treatments, and prevent life-threatening complications. For poor and middle-class families, this will be a huge relief, ensuring advanced treatment without crippling expenses.

Officials also believe the facility will serve as a direct alternative to private hospitals, where cardiac care comes at a steep cost. By providing the same services in a government hospital, the state hopes to make heart care both accessible and affordable.
What Are Cath Labs?

• Provide non-surgical treatments like angioplasty and angiogram.
