Karnataka’s Industries Minister MB Patil has advocated for extending Bengaluru Metro’s Tumakuru line to pass through the upcoming Knowledge, Wellbeing, and Innovation (KWIN) City near Dobbaspet. The proposed 52.4 km metro stretch from Madavara (BIEC) to Tumakuru is currently undergoing feasibility assessment.

Highlighting the benefits, Patil stated that metro connectivity would enhance accessibility for global firms, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities planned within KWIN City. He emphasized that integrating the metro with the Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR) and industrial areas near Nelamangala would significantly boost regional industrial development.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) officials, Patil urged the authorities to incorporate KWIN City into the proposed metro route. The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) is developing the 2,000-acre KWIN City, located between Dobbaspet and Doddaballapur along the STRR. It is approximately 50 km from central Bengaluru and a 45-minute drive from Kempegowda International Airport.
Karnataka Rail Infrastructure Development Company (K-RIDE) is working on extending the 25-km Mallige Line to Tumakuru via Dobbaspet, potentially offering a faster and more cost-effective solution. Additionally, KWIN City will feature an internal monorail with stations every 800 meters to enhance mobility within the hub.
