The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has rolled out a master plan to prevent irregularities in the upcoming Common Entrance Test (CET). The CET for professional courses will be held on April 15, 16, and 17.

This time, the exam comes with tighter security. For the first time, webcasting and CCTV surveillance will be used in all exam centers. Every candidate will be monitored live. This step aims to stop any malpractice during the exam.

A facial recognition QR code system will also be in place. The QR code is printed on the hall ticket. When scanned, it shows the candidate’s photo and full details. Entry will be allowed only after a strict frisking process. This will reduce confusion and crowding at the centers.

KEA has already released hall tickets and a model OMR sheet. This was done to avoid any last-minute confusion among students. Candidates can get familiar with the OMR format beforehand.

A dress code has also been introduced, similar to NEET exams. Full-sleeved clothes are not allowed. Wearing watches is banned. Each exam room will have a wall clock for timekeeping.

These new rules are expected to bring transparency and discipline to the exam process. Around 3.30 lakh students have registered to appear for the CET this year.

KEA officials say these measures will ensure a fair and secure environment. They also hope this will reduce pressure on students and staff alike.

The initiative has been welcomed by many, including parents and education experts. It marks a big step towards conducting foolproof examinations in the state.

With technology and strict guidelines in place, KEA is setting a new standard for entrance exams in Karnataka.
