Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) achieved a significant milestone in 2024, crossing 40 million passengers in a single year for the first time. The airport welcomed a total of 40.73 million travelers, marking a notable rise from 37.2 million in 2023. This performance earned KIA a spot in the Airports Council International’s (ACI) prestigious ‘Large Airport’ category.

The airport’s busiest day of the year was October 20, when 1,26,532 passengers used its facilities. Average daily air traffic movements (ATMs) stood at 723, peaking at 782 on October 17, reflecting robust operational capacity.
KIA expanded its connectivity significantly in 2024, reaching 75 domestic and 30 international destinations. Fifteen new routes were introduced, including Ayodhya, Aizawl, Nanded, and Langkawi. Popular domestic routes included Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Pune, while Dubai, Singapore, Doha, Abu Dhabi, and London Heathrow topped the list of international destinations.
IndiGo Airlines played a pivotal role in enhancing KIA’s global connectivity, adding 46 weekly international flights, the highest from a single station in India. Additionally, new partnerships with Virgin Atlantic and Manta Air further bolstered international reach.
This impressive growth underscores KIA’s position as a key aviation hub, driving both regional and international travel connectivity.
