Director of the movie, Martin Scorcese had an intensive discussion with GQ regarding the essence of the film and the process behind its making.

While talking about the film’s theme he said, “Killers of the Flower Moon is a story about love and power and betrayal and white supremacy. It is about a group of white people who stumble upon someone else’s land and then methodically begin grabbing onto what they can lay their hands on,even through violent means.”

He also talked about the farming of the filming in the larger geo-political context. “What I sensed was, it just wasn’t one or two people .I sensed it was everybody. And I said, ‘Well, if it’s everybody, then it’s us too.’ In other words, we as Americans, we are complicit. What would I do? Would I shy away? Would I pretend I didn’t see anything?” Scorsese pondered.

The film also stars Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone. Martin Scorcese has previously collaborated with Leonardo Dicaprio in Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, Shutter Island and the Wolf of Wall Street.
