In a refreshing departure from her usual mode of travel, Bengaluru-based billionaire and Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw took the Namma Metro on Tuesday, choosing public transport over luxury cars to navigate the city’s notorious traffic congestion. Shaw, who boarded the Purple Line from Whitefield to Vidhana Soudha, described the experience as both efficient and enjoyable.

Her post quickly garnered attention, highlighting the growing appeal of metro travel even among the city’s elite.

Shaw was accompanied by Jennifer Erich, her friend and a senior executive at Exxon Mobil. Referring to Erich as the “Iron Lady at Exxon Mobil,” Shaw noted their shared appreciation for the convenience of the metro system. According to Erich’s LinkedIn profile, she serves as a Geoscience Manager at Exxon Mobil’s Bengaluru Technology Centre.
